A bit about me...

 I’m Erin O’Leary Brown, an illustrator based in upstate NY, specializing in children’s illustration as well as botanical and nature themes.  I work traditionally in ink and watercolor, and often utilize digital media to make adjustments and minor changes or additions to the final illustrations.  My style combines delicate line and rich layers of color with careful details and a sense of whimsy with the goal of sharing engaging stories as well as beautiful images.

Over the years, I have worked in freelance illustration creating art for various books and children’s magazines, as well as decorative designs, for clients such as Scholastic, Herald Press, Perfection Learning Corp., and Cricket Media. I recently illustrated a Christmas-themed tarot deck, The Yuletide Tarot, written by Kristoffer Hughes and published by Llewellyn Worldwide.

I received a BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University, and an MS in Education from Elmira College.  In addition to working in the field of illustration, I've also spent some time teaching art. When I'm not working on illustrations for clients, you can find me drawing away in my sketchbook, which is my favorite way to unwind and develop creative ideas.  I live in the woods in upstate NY with my husband, three studio dogs, and several roaming chickens (who are not allowed in the studio).
