A bit about me...

I’m Erin O’Leary Brown, an illustrator based in upstate NY, specializing in children’s illustration, animals and whimsical nature themes.  I work traditionally in ink and watercolor, and often utilize digital media to make adjustments or minor additions to the final illustrations.  My style combines delicate line and rich layers of color with careful details and a sense of whimsy with the goal of sharing engaging stories as well as beautiful images.

I have had the pleasure of working in the field of art and illustration for almost 3 decades now. During this time, I have created professional illustrations as well as custom artwork for a variety of clients (such as Llewellyn Worldiwde, Scholastic, Warbucks Inc., Herald Press, Perfection Learning Corp., and Cricket Media). I received a BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University in 1998, and later an MS in Education from Elmira College where I expanded my artistic skills into ceramic sculpture.  In addition to working as an artist and illustrator, I have also spent some time teaching art and raising two wonderful children to adulthood (my best work of all!) When I'm not working on illustrations for clients, you can find me drawing away in my sketchbook, which is my favorite way to unwind and develop creative ideas. I live in the woods in upstate NY with my husband, three studio dogs, and several roaming chickens (who are not allowed in the studio).
